Conversations with a Toddler

I think every parent longs for the day when your child can reciprocate the suffocating love that you’ve been showering on them since day one.
I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Me: Allison, do you want pancakes for dinner?
Allison:  Cake-Cakes!
(Fast forward 20 minutes.  Brinner is served.)
Me: How are your pancakes?
Allison: Love cake-cakes!
Me:  What else do you love?
Allison:  Love Wheel [of Fortune]!
Me:  Do you love mommy?
Allison: Love mama cake-cakes!
I’m glad that she expressed her feelings towards the pancakes.  Because I’m sure they were feeling pretty under appreciated.

Painting

Proof that reading blogs is educational.  I saw this idea over at one of my favorite blogs, Little Big, and was reminded of the hours of playtime a bucket and a paintbrush provided me as a child.  And it’s stood the test of time.  Allison could spend hours “painting.”

Conversations with a Toddler

Matt:  “What does a cow say?”
Allison:  “Moo!”
Matt:  “What does a pig say?”
Allison:  “Onk Onk!”
Matt:  “What does a duck say?”
Allison:  “Qack Qack!”
Matt:  “What does Swiper say?”
Allison:  “Oh, Maaaaaaannnnnn!” (Hand movement included.)*
Dying.
The kicker came when he asked what Mommy says.  Her response?  “Hug, Hug, Hug.”
*Melts*
*Many of the people I’ve told this story to have no clue who Swiper is.  It kinda takes the fun out of telling it.  I mean, how can anyone not know Dora the Explorer’s entire life story?  That little Mexican is going to take over the world someday.
