Preemie? Not me!

Allison had her 6 month appointment on Thursday and she weighed in at 14lbs 10oz!! She is in the 25th percentile for weight and the 50th for length at 25"!! It's so crazy because I remember when she was just 5 lbs at her first doctors appointment. I'm so proud of my growing girl! Developmentally, she is hanging in with her peers and is almost able to sit up unassisted. I'm sure she'll have it down in another week. We also started solid food yesterday, so I threw some green beans in the blender and voila! Baby food! I don't think she really liked it because she kept "kack-ing" but maybe we'll have better luck with something a little sweeter.

In other news, we had some new additions to our house with a new dining table and matching chairs... It was such a deal at $40 (delivered same day) that I couldn't pass it up. It needs a little work, but mostly just aesthetics. I've been busier than ever trying to get caught up on housework, marathon fundraising/training, and reluctantly job searching. I do currently have a couple leads- one of which is a temp job, so we'll see how things play out. While we were able to lower our monthly bills by refinancing the Mazda and mortgage, I will still need to work at least part-time once unemployment runs out. It's certainly going to be tough leaving Allison...

Busy, busy, busy!!!

I've been managing to keep up on Facebook most days, but we've been running around like maniacs the last month! At the end of August, we joined the CCFA's Team Challenge to run a 1/2 marathon to raise funds for patient services and research. I was a little nervous about committing to such a large obligation, but I am so excited! It's been tough to participate in all the events and activities hosted by the CCFA and still try to keep Allison on schedule, but we're gaining momentum with training and fundraising on our own! It's definitely keeping me busy in between all the other appointments, errands, housework, projects and activities...

We've also traveled to Sedalia a couple times in the last month to visit with friends that recently moved back to Missouri from Virginia. Being 8 months pregnant hasn't slowed Kim down much, but we've been trying to help where we can and force them to take some breaks in between projects. In between them and AnneMarie and Morgan's new home renovations, we've been inspired to do some work on our own place. We replaced the pedestal sink in the upstairs bath with a more functional cabinet, fixed some random things around the house, and we are gearing up to replace some lighting and finish painting some odds and ends that we've been putting off for awhile.

Allison has her 6 month appointment on Thursday, so I promise I will blog again soon!
